Magic Berries 🫐👶🫐
2023
Barbara Gryka is interested in how young people feel the present, and in what categories they perceive the future. This is why she invited a local band called Three Deaths to her festival project. This punk rock group is rather unique in that its members are aged 10 to 13. Punk music provides them with a space to express their disagreement with the condition of the world and looming visions for its future. The subject of one of the songs we are going to hear during the festival is war and the essence of evil. Another piece was composed especially for NARRACJE, its lyrics inspired by writings on the walls around Orunia that expressed harsh criticism of the authorities.
During NARRACJE, Barbara Gryka will show a video recorded with the band and – together with its members – stage a performance involving hanging medallions with insignia of power on nearby trees.
Three Deaths are Bruno (b. 2010) – bass guitar, vocals, Domino (b. 2010) – guitar, vocals, Alek (b. 2010) – Casio CZ5000, vocals and Stahu (b. 2013) – drums, vocals.
Text
1. “Magic Berries”
Heading towards the future, heading towards disaster,
Perhaps we will be free if we can just die faster.
The years of our youth are a thing of the past.
There are no feelings left, love also cannot last.
Only psychopaths are ruling the world
Sending artillery, tanks, and bombs.
Killing our Mother Earth
Global warming is here to stay
We are all fearing what’s to come
Lack of money, work, or they will burn our town.
I could rant like this for days
But it won’t reveal our fate.
Going down the road, following the signs
Following the path that we choose for us
You’re making your choices unaware and blind
Listening to people from the other side
To the politicians who guide us with lies.
Red berries, red cherries
falling from the tree
We want to break free
We want to be free
People telling me
That I’m not pretty
But I just want freedom
If I just were free
Every boy would want me
They would fight for me
Red berries, red cherries
Falling from the tree
Nobody can ever
take my liberty
away from me.
2. “I sow fear”
I sow fear
I sow fear
All I feel is anger
I walk down the street, pull out my gun, and explain to everyone what death means. The police arrive, tell me to drop it and I don’t listen to them. I feel only anger!
I sow fear
Sows fear
Sows fear
Feels only anger
I jump on the roof and shoot to the sky.
I’ll kill everyone I need there. I hate you, I won’t spare anyone I’m in this world alone you won’t catch me!
I sow fear (on the roads also the seas)
I sow fear (on the roads also seas)
He sows fear (on the roads also seas)
3. “War broke out.”
A war broke out, the world exploded. All we have are weapons and many defects. x2
In the world, wars break out.
People are shooting at each other.
They have no mercy for each other.
Smog is rising in the sky.
4. “Z like devil”
Z like anger, envy and betrayal.
Z as pestilence, murder annihilation. x2
Z as tank, rocket swastika.
Z like fear, the lie of politics. x2
5. “The extinct humanity”
The extinct humanity,
The living became extinct
The animals have arrived, now the plants rule
The largest willows are already in ruins
Tokyo, Paris, New York
Can not stand
They turned off the water
They turned off the electricity
Nature goes to the front
Goes to the front.
